Handicare 950 Simplicity – Handicare 950+ Codes

Question

Why does my Handicare stairlift show an 8/9?

Answer

A Handicare 950 Simplicity or a Handicare 950+ will show an 8 or a 9 when the lift is running up or down stairs. The number differs depending on what hand chair is (left or right).

Either way, these are normal codes to see daily on your lift.

Verdict

Don’t panic! This is totally normal.

Question

Why does my Handicare stairlift show a 6/7?

Answer

Your Handicare stairlift is fitted with multiple sensors. Should something activate a switch on the footplate, the stairlift will stop and show a 6 or a 7.

Remove any obstacles from the stairs and try again. If you have no visible obstacles, try clicking each sensor multiple times.

Verdict

Try the steps above. If your stairlift still won’t move after a reset or any sensors feel stuck, give us a call!

Question

Why does my Handicare stairlift show a 0?

Answer

There are a few reasons your lift may be showing 0. Firstly, make sure your lift isn’t swivelled.

Its back should be against the wall. If your lift has a key, check that it’s fully turned and locked in.

If your lift has a red button on the side of the chair, make sure this is NOT pushed in. Simply turn it clockwise and it should pop out!

Verdict

Try the steps above. If your stairlift still won’t move after a reset, give us a call!

Question

Why does my Handicare stairlift show a 2?

Answer

Your lift is probably beeping right now, too. This means that the lift isn’t charging.

Firstly, check that your stairlift charger is plugged in and switched on. A charger should never be switched off or unplugged, or you can risk your batteries becoming flat and needing to be changed.

Is the socket itself working? Check your fuse box!

Verdict

Try the steps above. If your charging light is on, but your stairlift still won’t charge, give us a call!

Question

Why does my Handicare stairlift show an n?

Answer

If you have a Handicare Slide track system, your lift will normally show a lowercase n for at least half of the journey. Don’t worry!

If you don’t have a slide track, please give us a call.

Verdict

If you don’t have a slide track system and a reset doesn’t clear the code, please give us a call!

Question

My lift is showing a code not mentioned here. What should I do?

Answer
